Our first Sweetheart Dance was a big hit with children and adults alike! A very special thank you to Miller parents Sue Cornelliussen, Karyn Danzig, and Donna Sullivan, and Miller teachers Karen Burke, Kellie Flynn, Krystal MacNeil and Shannon Keele. I really enjoyed watching children dance with their parents, teachers and friends. I think this may become a n annual event!
On Friday we had a special visitor at our monthly Town Meeting. Mark Bowers, author and parent of first graders Henry and Oliver read his newly published book, Sully the Squirrel Explores Boston. The children loved hearing the adventures of Sully as he toured Boston and learned about the history of Boston. Sully went to Boylston Street, the Statehouse, Fenway Park and more.
Students will be coming home next week with information on ordering a copy of the book should you choose to do so. Mr. Bowers has generously donated $2.00 from the sale of each book to the Miller PTO.
On Friday morning, Tanish Peddi, Rose Geoffroy, Kitt Whitmore and Amelia Brown were the Principals for the Morning. They did an excellent job with the morning announcements and together we visited many classrooms. Below is a few images of what our principals experienced.
Children magically aged overnight turning one hundred in their sleep! I saw children with graying hair, wrinkles, pocketbooks, canes and lots of jewelry enter the school on Wednesday morning. As I walked through classrooms our centenarians were writing 100 words, making combinations of numbers to 100 and much more. See the photos below, there were lots of happy faces!
On Friday kindergarten students attended a presentation by Rhythm Kids. Children enjoyed playing drums, following rhythm, chanting and dancing. Ask your child all about it. This presentation was made possible through your generous support of our recent Race for Education - thank you!
Thank to the many families who attended our Chinese New year Celebration, it was a beautiful event full of music, singing, dancing, food, art and joy.
A very special thank you to Zhaohui Yang, Xiaoyu Huang, Xun Zhang and Mariann Soderquist. This event would not have been possible without your support.
And, thank you to the talented student performers: Emma Beckwith, Maily Hia, Anlin Huang, Catherine Li, Anna Urzua, Ellie Zhong, Anna WU, Amelia Shen, Eddie Liao, Emma Yu, Olivia Li, Mia Li, Lillian Chen, Samuel Tui, Jaden Chen, Selena Ge and Adam Ge.
We had a great time last night at our Bingo for Books for pre-first and first grade students. Thank you to Mrs. Burke for her help with this event. This was a fun way to practice sight words while playing a favorite game - everyone was a winner!
First graders attended an amazing performance this morning by the Tanglewood Marionettes. The students saw a traditional retelling of Sleeping Beauty.
Ask your child all about it!
I enjoyed watching our "mad scientists" and mathematicians hard at work!
Today we celebrated reaching our Race for Education goal of $10,000 at Town Meeting. Our plan was to have purple hair, but instead got bright red! Now we can celebrate a Patriot's victory this weekend - go Pats!
Thank you for your generous support of the Miller School.
