Thank you to all the families who attended our spring movie night. It's wonderful seeing the children in their pj's with their favorite stuffed animal. Thanks to Mr. Chartier the audio is greatly improved. A portion of the Race for Education funds were used to purchase a Bose sound system, thank you for your generosity.
Today at Town Meeting we talked about how to be good friend and watched a quick video called The Meanest Girl in Second Grade. This brief video highlights the importance of being kind, and of both accepting and delivering an apology. After the video we had a great conversation about how children at Miller can be a good friend and what to do if someone is unkind to them. ask your child all about it!
A Special events have been occurring all week and today in honor of Dr. Seuss. Students have worn special colors, read his books and had fun doing a variety of projects. To the left is Mrs. Burke's first graders showing off their cat in the hat hats. The sung a wonderful song that contained some very challenging rhymes.
Ask you child all about Dr. Seuss tonight and how they celebrated his birthday!
Our first Sweetheart Dance was a big hit with children and adults alike! A very special thank you to Miller parents Sue Cornelliussen, Karyn Danzig, and Donna Sullivan, and Miller teachers Karen Burke, Kellie Flynn, Krystal MacNeil and Shannon Keele. I really enjoyed watching children dance with their parents, teachers and friends. I think this may become a n annual event!
On Friday we had a special visitor at our monthly Town Meeting. Mark Bowers, author and parent of first graders Henry and Oliver read his newly published book, Sully the Squirrel Explores Boston. The children loved hearing the adventures of Sully as he toured Boston and learned about the history of Boston. Sully went to Boylston Street, the Statehouse, Fenway Park and more.
Students will be coming home next week with information on ordering a copy of the book should you choose to do so. Mr. Bowers has generously donated $2.00 from the sale of each book to the Miller PTO.
On Friday morning, Tanish Peddi, Rose Geoffroy, Kitt Whitmore and Amelia Brown were the Principals for the Morning. They did an excellent job with the morning announcements and together we visited many classrooms. Below is a few images of what our principals experienced.
